I wish I invented the iPod. Or theiPhone. Or anything that starts with “i” for that matter. But what I really try to develop in my own personal career is not the actual inventing part of the product, but the visionary part. By looking at the future and seeing the trends before that happen. Or realizing a trend is in the making and grabbing the coattails immediately so that I can capitalize on the trend for my business. How much do you read? Do you attend industry trade shows and events? Do you network with people in your field – and those who are indirectly involved? Foresight is much more profitable than hindsight and it also makes the difference between just surviving as a VAR and succeeding as a SuperVAR. Pay attention to trends; then create a plan to incorporate them into your marketing strategies for success!
