A recent article from eMarketer shows that marketers in 2009 are shifting the way they market– changing, not cutting. About 19% of marketers are increasing their presence online and it’s no wonder – online marketing continues to produce trackable results for short dollars. Couple that benefit with more focused, targeted campaigns and programs (about 15% of those surveyed are doing this) and utilizing more research with customers in order to create those targeted marketing efforts (about 11% have made this their focus). The best news – small businesses, like you and your competing VARs – have the opportunity to actually grow your market during this recession and build brand awareness, even if you have limited resources. If an online opportunity plops into your inbox or you see something of interest on the Web, don’t just glance over it and move on. Take a second look. And then give one or two ideas a try. You may be pleasantly surprised at how you thrive during this downturn on a smaller budget than usual, simply by focusing your efforts online.
