That’s what you were called in a recent article on emarketer.com – simply because advertising spending online for business-to-business companies is up. Good for you! You haven’t cut back, succumbed to the panic of the recession, and are going with your instincts. If you continue to reach out and market your business, it will pay off. Stats from a new survey by Outsell showed that 13 percent of B2B companies with more than 1,000 employees increased their online advertising spending. But even more B2B companies with less than 100 employees – a whopping 25 percent (could this be you?) – are also ratcheting it up. It appears that the smaller business “get it” more so than the larger ones do. And the opposite holds true, too. Large companies are cutting marketing programs but smaller ones are towing the line. Email marketing, search engine optimization tactics, and display advertising are working for smaller businesses. You’re finding that you can target your marketing efforts more effectively with a great return on your investment – for short dollars. What a concept: better results without high spending attached! These statistics show again why you can’t back off in a downturn. Your competitors aren’t. If you do, you’ll never climb out successfully to the other side.
